The Little A Foundation

Every life deserves care, protection, and hope.

In memory of Alexa Tolsma, the Little A Foundation is envisioned as a promise to protect life wherever it is vulnerable. Alexa faced Ewing sarcoma with courage and dreamed of a future filled with children and a large family. Her memory inspires us to stand beside patients battling cancer and mothers facing unexpected pregnancies—offering compassionate care, practical help, and hope.

Alexa’s story

A love for life that continues to shape our mission.

Alexa Tolsma was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in 2019 at age 11. After a period of remission, the cancer returned. Alexa passed away on November 8, 2020, at age 12.

Her family experienced the fear of diagnosis, the hope of remission, and the heartbreak of recurrence. Cancer reaches beyond the hospital room, reshaping daily life around treatment, uncertainty, and the wish for more time together. For many families, that emotional weight is compounded by medical bills, travel, lodging, meals, and time away from work.

Alexa also loved children, especially babies, and dreamed of one day having a large family. Her compassion and love for life inspire both sides of the foundation’s mission: standing with families facing cancer and helping women facing unexpected pregnancies receive the support they need to choose life.

The Little A Foundation is proposed in her memory so that vulnerable families feel supported, every child is valued, and more people are given the opportunity to experience life, love, and family.
